Universal News 12/20/16

One last chance to blast some rounds at USA before the new year begins! Come on out Christmas eve for some 3 gun and DPL action.
USPSA Multigun
Saturday Dec. 24
Special This Match: Goofy Gun Challenge! (Optional)
Bring out that weird gun that you never get to shoot for a chance at some USA Swag. Anything out of your ordinary will put you in for the gear. I’ll be running my AK, Bennelli and .357 revo (if I can find my holster and a couple speed loaders)
5 stages, rifle out to 200+ with bonus at 400ish. Little shotgun heavy and we have many optional targets where you can choose you gun so round counts are hard to call. But typical 100 rifle, 100 pistol, 100 bird and 5 slug will suffice. (we have 4 slugs this month)

*Last month of our support for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation and the Rangers Scholarship Fund so match fees are $5 more than usual. We appreciate your help in raising money for these great charities. I will be real close to meeting my goal of donating $1000 to each.

FL State and FL Open are sneaking up on us. Matches are filling nicely, be sure to register soon if you’d like to compete.
 
Steel Challenge
We are bringing back SC for 2017. We will be holding matches on the first Saturday of each month starting Jan 7. All 8 official stages of the Steel Challenge. We are not currently an affiliated club but I will be getting affiliation so your scores will go in for classification. We are also going try out Steel Challenge on Thursday day and evening. More info to come on that but you will be able to come shoot the match at your leisure during the operating times. Spread the word on this please.

Hello shooters,
Happy Thanksgiving, hope everyone is ready to stuff themselves with turkey and fixins then immediately regret it. But good news! You can come out and work some of it off the Saturday after.
USPSA Multigun
We’re on for Saturday. 5 stages. Haven’t designed stages yet but typical round counts and distance to 300 or so likely.

Defensive Pistol League
5 stages. I was asked to write an article for a magazine and I will have a couple stages I’m going to incorporate into the article with times, gear, etc. If you’re shooting LC Division I may use your photos in the article. Can’t promise they will make the editing but I’ll for sure submit some. If you don’t want your picture taken just let me know, no sweat. Also I just had a baby…so expect some baby related stages as well. I gotta figure this stuff out!

* Fees are increased this month by $5. Universal Shooting Academy supports The Special Operations Warrior Foundation and The Rangers Scholarship Fund and we have for the past number of years with a cash donation at the end of each year. It’s been at least $1000 to each organization in recent years and I expect the same this year. $10 of your match fee will go directly to the charities. I will also have a donation bin available at each match this month and next, if you have a couple extra bucks, change, whatever, it will all go to them. I appreciate your consideration as these guys do great work taking care of the children of fallen Special Ops soldiers.
December
USPSA, Multigun and DPL are ON for December for your planning purposes.
January
We will have an all Classifier USPSA Match on January 8. Great time to get classed in a new Division or up your class in your current Division. Should be in time to be updated prior to the State Championship.
FL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Match is filling nicely. Be sure to register soon to ensure your spot. Also looking for Staff for this match. I know many of you have emailed me. I’m putting the staff together this month and will be in contact soon.
FL OPEN
Our biggest match of the year. Great place to test your skills against some of the best in the world. We have an Island Theme this year Mon. Registration is open. Need staff here also, shoot me an email.
Area 6 Multigun
We are going with April 7-9. That steps on a 3GN match in MN but it’s the only decent date around and we aren’t as conflicted as last year. Will make the official announcement after Turkey Day but you can mark your calendars. It’s a go.
Steel Challenge
 
We are likely going to try a regular Steel Challenge match again in 2017. All 8 official stages. We are thinking on it’s own day. Let me know what weekend day you think would be good if you’re interested in Steel. It’s impossible not to step on other local matches around central Florida so mainly interested in Steel folks and fitting in well on the Steel schedule.

IRC Update

Classifier match went well today. I’ll get the results up tomorrow. They have been turned to the Stats Department with ICORE and he says the updates will be current tomorrow and count towards the IRC.

Final walkthroughs and stage vetting with the RM and MD went well. Targets are hung and match is ready to start in the morning.

There was some squad consolidation as mentioned you can check the squad list HERE.

Be sure to check in to verify your information according to the check in times in on the match webpage.

Results will be linked from the results page on the match website as often as possible throughout the match. Please bring any scoring corrections, Division, Class or category corrections to the Stats area of the range or the MD asap throughout the match so we can keep the results as accurate as possible.

I will post updates here on the news page which is linked to the main IRC page. Also if you’re a facebooker you can follow us /universalshootingacademy for up to the minute info.

IRC Update 110116

Almost that time shooters. We have a great match ready for you to attack. Please review the IRC webpage located here including the Virtual Shooters Brief on the main page.  It should contain the info for any of your questions. Feel free to email or call me if there is anything left out. Stage 11 and 12 swapped places on the range due to bay requirements, stages have been corrected and reposted.

The match is closed for online registration but there is still room in the match if you know anyone that wants to shoot. Just have them email me.

There will be a final consolidation of squads tomorrow. We have a couple short squads we will be combining. I will not break you up with anyone you are currently squadded with without contacting you. But check the final squad list Wednesday after 1800 EST to see the final squad you are on, that will dictate where you start on Friday or Saturday morning.

IRC Updates

Universal News 10/18/16

Hello Shooters,
Holy cow, what a stretch. I know we’ve had to cancel a lot of the local matches. I apologize but that’s the way it works here this time of year with all our major matches coming in. The plus side is you have the opportunity to shoot a ton of big matches right in your back yard…..hope you’re taking advantage of that.
USPSA Multigun
Canceled for this weekend. We have Monster and IRC set up which will be taking up almost the entire range. Should be good to go for Nov and Dec however.
DPL
On for this Saturday. Duane will be there to run the match, I will be there also but working on set up. Fortunately DPL doesn’t take up much range resources so we’re gonna make it happen.

The Monster Match
This is the match that started it all for me. Started as a dream I wanted to do and now I do it for a living……maybe it was a nightmare. 🙂 Oct. 28-30 but shot in one day. 8 stages averaging 50 rounds per stage! You are a shooter right? Lets shoot!! If you aren’t signed up for this match you need to be…by far the most fun match of the year. Special prizes for shooting in costume. You can sign up on MatchSignUp.org and find more info at TheMonsterMatch.net I highly recommend you shoot this match!
Monster Staff
On that note, if you are interested in working The Monster Match as Staff we are still a few short. Email me if interested. You would shoot on Friday and work Saturday/Sunday. Please email me directly; don’t reply to this email….I get to many bounce backs to sift through. If you applied for staff but didn’t get the staff email I sent an hour ago then I missed you, please hit me back.
International Revolver Championship
First time on the east coast and at our range. The first weekend in November. If you’ve got a wheel gun collecting dust in the back of the safe why not dust it off and compete in a National Championship?!? MatchSignUp.org Also more info on our webpage.
3 Gun Nation
Happy to announce the 3GN Regional is coming back to USA the first weekend in Feb. More info to come and/or on their website.
A6MG
On that note, I need to schedule the A6MG. For my 3 gunners I’m thinking the second weekend in April 7-9? This is NOT an official announcement. I’m trying to get a decent date that doesn’t step on other big 3 gun matches like it did last year. Thoughts?

PCCpalooza
Sunday October 8 we will be holding a PCC only match. We will be using 8 stages from the Nationals. One day match, 8 squads of 10-12. We will be using Match Sign Up for pre registration. Don’t know if we’ll have space for walk ups or not until registration gets going. It will be open today….in a few hours. Come try it out!
Other News
We are in the midst of the crazy season here at USA. We have The Monster Match in October, the IRC in November. Then the FL State Match sneaking up in January and the Florida Open in February. I plan to have all those matches open for registration by the end of this week. Whew!
