Jan 3 Gun / DPL

Scores are up from today for both matches. Thanks to everyone for the support, great turnout. We’ll keep DPL as scheduled for next month but had some talk today about moving it to the 4th Saturday and keeping it in conjunction with 3 gun. Some of us 3 gunners shot DPL afterwards and we had a great time. Interested in what the DPL’ers would think about moving to the 4th Saturday. Let me know.
 
Local 3 Gun will be off for next month due to 3GN coming in but I’ll update here and the email list.

Hello race fans,
Little late on the email for this weeks match, Friday kinda snuck up on me.
USPSA
Sunday the 10th
Registration: 0845
Walkthru: 0930
Fee: $20
6 Stages including a classifier
PRACTICE
Will be available after the match for $10. We will have some of the FL State Stages built and I’ll probably be working on more. You may not be on those stages. Otherwise, most of the pistol bays will be available for practicing.
3 GUN
Will be on for the 23rd of this month. Will have another email before that.
DPL
DPL is back!! Not on it’s normal day, we’ll be doing it the 23rd as well along with the 3 gun match. Will explain later but you may shoot both if you like. If you haven’t tried our Defensive Pistol League, it’s a great opportunity to try out your real gun with your real gear.
FL State USPSA Championship
Match is next weekend. We still have room in the match and I highly recommend you participate. It is our State Championship! A fun match and gives you the chance to test your skills against shooters from outside your normal club. Sign up available through Match Sign Up.
 
FLORIDA OPEN
Registration is open for this one as well. Our most famous match and the 17th production! Difficult match that will test all your skills for sure against many from around the world. This match is the 3rd weekend in February and you may register on Match Sign Up.
WORK PARTY
We are having a gathering tomorrow here to start building of the FL State Match. If anyone is bored and wants some free beer and pizza you are welcome to join us. We’ll start around 9 and finish probably at dark 30 or so.

Universal News 8/11/15

SCATTERGUN CHALLENGE
Stages will be finishing up on Friday and probably some on Saturday as well so I don’t have exact round counts but like I said in the flyer 200 bird and 20 slug should do the trick. We do have some slug available for sale in the pro shop if anyone needs it.

Registration will open at 7:30. You’ve already registered on Match Sign Up so it will be a quick process, just verifying your information is correct. Please plan to stay on your assigned squad. As you can tell on Match we are going to be full…only 10 or so spots open now. I don’t want to go over 10 per squad so we can keep the match moving. Walkthrough will start at 8:00 and we’ll go hot right after that.
USPSA Time Plus scoring just like we do for 3 gun. Clays are treated like a normal target also like our 3 gun matches. That means a miss is a miss. Marked as ‘Complete Miss’. They do not receive a ‘Not Engaged’ penalty like a regular target would whether you shoot at them or not. We are using some throwers. Flippers and traditional clay launchers. To keep the match flowing we are using the generally accepted 3 gun practice of ‘If the clay breaks on the launcher, as long as you send a round at it it will count as a hit’. We are not doing re-shoots for clays that break on the launcher. If you don’t shoot at it it will count as a miss.
We will have Publix or Subway sammiches along with some sodas for lunch. Keep shooting until I tell you to break.
I will have some Ying available for after the match but feel free to BYOB if you’d like. We’ll hand out plaques directly after the match. No classes but will do top 5 in the main divisions…..top 3 in Heavy (pump), plus categories.
USPSA
Most of you are on Marc’s email list also. But reminder there is a USPSA Classifier / SLOT match at our place on Saturday. If you’re in the neighborhood you should check it out!
3 GUN
Will be on this month on the 22nd. You’ll get another email prior to that for reminder.

USA Scattergun Challenge

USA Scattergun Challenge

We will be using USPSA Division rules. Open, Tactical, and Heavy. Heavy will fall under Heavy Limited for USPSA purposes. Open is open. Tactical is 9 max in the gun at the start. Heavy is 12 gauge only, pump, and also 9 max at the start.

Further we will be using USPSA Time Plus Points scoring. Each stage is worth 100 points and scoring is Time plus penalties. Steel must fall, clays must break according to the RO, and one slug hit will equal a neutralized target whether it be paper or steel.

They flyer states 6 1/2 max size. We will allow 6’s.

Many stages we’ll be using are left over from the Pro Am falling steel match. So many ‘sea of steel’ array’s. Expect lots of 2 fers or more fers…. We’ll also have a few flying clays and will be using the slider with either slugs or plates….not decided on that yet.

Side note…..there is a classifier match at the range on Saturday. If you’re so inclined, wanted to let you know.

Happy Independence day weekend to everyone, hope it was great. Big couple weeks coming to USA.
DPL
This Saturday is our Defensive Pistol League. I tried out a couple new ideas last month and have a couple more for this month. It’s a great match to try out your defensive gear and it’s a great match to bring out some new gun enthusiasts that want to try out competition And and it’s a great match to just come shoot. Hope you can make it. 5 stages, about 50 rounds. I’ll be back rocking the G42 this month!

This Sunday is our monthly USPSA match. This month is our SLOT match for the 2016 Nationals. If you’re interested in a slot for next years Nationals which will be back at USA you need to catch these slot matches. 6 stages including a classifier. 130 rounds +/-

Howdy folks,

This saturday, SATurday, SATURDAY!!! Don’t miss our monthly 3 gun extravaganza!! Typical set up, 5 stages. 100 rifle, 100 pistol, 50 bird, and 5 slug will be enough. We’ll keep the physical movement down a bit with the expected heat.

Howdy Shooters,
It’s been a busy year so far, hard to believe March is almost over. We have the Area 6 in a couple weeks then a small break from major matches at our place.
3 GUN
Its ON for this Saturday the 28th. I will be out of town properly using cover at the IDPA State Championship. Duane and Andy have graciously offered to run the match for me. We will be working on the stages this week but the normal 100 rifle, 100 pistol, 50 bird, 5 slug will get you through.

I will be gone for the April match also, I’ll see if I can talk them into running that one as well. I will be here and the match is on for sure in May and June.
USPSA
No USPSA in April due to the Area 6 Pistol Championship at our place. I will be out of town for the May match. Will let you know if that’s a go or not. It’s also Mothers Day FYI. June and July should be a go!
DPL
Next DPL match will be April 18. I know that is a 3rd Saturday but A6 Pistol is in the way so it’s either the 18th or not at all. I want to keep the momentum going from the great first match so the 18th it is! May it will be on the 3rd Saturday as well due to my travel schedule. June and July it will be on the 2nd Saturday.

Lots of exciting stuff coming in the next couple weeks!!
USADPL
Our first go at Universal Shooting Academy Defensive Pistol League will be this Saturday the 7th. You can find more about it on the website. Normal 8:30 sign up and 9:30 walkthrough. If you are new to competition and can be there at 8:15 or so I’ll have a short tutorial of what is going to happen. I also plan to have a squad of the “newer shooters” which I’ll run with and help you along. I’m looking at 6-7 stages of fire. Round count will be under 100 for sure and probably closer to 50. Bring whatever you want to shoot, we’ll find a place for you. I’ve already had a couple questions that don’t fit in my divisions….things I didn’t think about. But we’ll make it work together. I’m excited for the event. I’ll be running the new G42 with IWB Blade Tech holster and one spare mag.

Fee: FREE! It’s like crack….first hit is on me.
USPSA
Sunday is our normal USPSA day. This month is a double whammy, a classifier match and our Central Florida Section Slot Series match. We will have 5 maybe 6 classifiers plus at least one field course….probably from the State Match. Follow us on social media to find out what classifiers will be shot. (I don’t know yet so don’t ask, it’s only Wednesday after all!)
IF YOU ARE ENTERING THE SLOT SERIES and you are coming in under my club you need to inform me in writing. (email is fine) Just “yo dude, I’m in the slot series” will do.
When: Sunday the 8th

Walkthrough: 9:30
Fee: $25
PRACTICE
Practice will be available after the USPSA match on Sunday. There will NOT BE practice on Saturday after the USADPL match. We may implement that in the future but not this one. Most areas will be open but not the FL Open stages which will be set up.
Fee: $10
Time: End of match until 5pm or I run out of Yuengling whichever comes first.
FLORIDA OPEN
The following weekend. Match is almost full but there is still some room. Guns for all class winners with participation. One of the most challenging matches of the year. I wouldn’t miss it.
AREA 6 MULTIGUN
Devil Dog Arms has signed on as the main match sponsor. Match is filling nicely. 3 Gun is gaining in popularity like crazy. Get on the train!! We are doing more and more 3 gun classes as well so we can train you up if need be.
LOCAL 3 GUN
Will be on for this month. It is the week prior to the A6MG match. I’ve had some folks ask if we’ll be doing it or not. So just to clarify, the match is ON.

Central Florida Section News

SLOT SERIES UPDATE FOR CENTRAL FLORIDA SECTION
We had our annual presidents meeting for the Central Florida Section of USPSA during the weekend of the State Match. The section had previously decided not to have our slot series this year as USPSA said they weren’t issuing slots for Nationals and were changing the way they did things. Well they changed their minds and decided they are going to do slots……and another last minute decision that landed the USPSA Nationals here at Universal Shooting Academy and all the sudden we needed a way to distribute the slots as fairly as possible. So we decided to jam a slot series in in the next few months.
Each club will host a slot series match between now and the end of May. You may attend as many as you like, the best 4 finishes will be totaled for your score. Score is your percentage. The Area 6 Pistol Championship will count as well and it will count double!! So if you achieve a 60% finish your score will be 120 for that match.
More information on the slot series can be provided from your club president and the section coordinator.
The important part is you must declare with your club president your desire to enter the series. You must declare by the end of February for this series.
We will get the schedule out in various places asap. The full schedule will be on USA’s website, facebook, A6 website, and other club websites as well.
Polk County Practical Shooters will hold the first one at our February match. February 8.
The slot series for the 2016 National Championship will be the last half of this year. We will have more information about this series towards the summer. We will have one match count double….probably The Monster Match but that’s TBD. For this series you must inform the Match Director of the first slot series match you attend that you are declaring.
Slots for the 2016 Single Stack Nationals will use the 2015 Factory Gun match as has been the case in recent years.
